Terrible at posting

So its been almost a year since my last post. I am terrible. I am going to try to be better at it. One of my friends is pretty good at it and was encouraging me. Plus I have started following a few new blogs so hopefully I will stay motivated.

2009 Favorites

I have been busy this second half of 2009 reading young adult fiction. I am trying to keep up with the reading interests of my students so I can easily recommend great books. One of the my favorite young adult book series is Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan. Riordan does a great job of spinning a fanastic story of a likeable boy who finds himself in the middle of dealng with the Gods and their meddlesome children. If you haven't had a chance to read the first book The Lightning Thief, I recommend checking it out before the film version of the novel comes out in February.

One of the first books I read at my new school as Graceling by Kristin Cashore. It is a great story about a girl gifted with a great power and her struggle to come to terms with the responsibilty that comes with her need to control it. The prequel to this story recently came out! I am excited to read it!

The book I would like to recommend Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins to everyone! It is a great book that grabs the readers from the first chapter! My best explaination for the plot is a futurist government that forces 24 kids to fight to the death for food. I know that sounds very harsh and maybe not something that would be interesting. Trust me! Best book I have read this year....and I read a lot of books!!!!

Well these are my favorites from 2009. More thoughts will be coming in 2010 but I am off to celebrate the holiday with my mom!

Happy New Year! Good Luck in 2010!!!

My first blog!

Hello followers!

I decided to start blogging about my adventures in the library. I have always wanted to work in a library. I interned in high school in several different libraries and then went on to get a masters degree in Library and Information Science. I started my first library position in August of 2009. I am the media specialist at South Central Jr. Sr. High School. I decided I should start a blog that allows me to share my thoughts about the library that I work in, the books I am reading and random facts about me.

I hope this works! Wish me luck! Follow me!!!!
